Nobody's quite sure what this channel is about. That's kind of the charm.

On an interesting side note, Ireland is one of very few countries that can boast not having a history of antisemitism, despite having a Jewish community for about a thousand years. Dating all the way back to 1079 if I am not mistaken. They are well integrated into Irish life, and have been largely left alone. The Brits like to defame the Irish wherever possible, and as such...like to accuse Ireland of having been allied with the Axis Powers during WW2, which is total nonsense. More than 70,000 Irishmen fought for Britain in WW2, a tradition going back to WW1 and the Napoleonic Wars. Arthur Wellesley himself, who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo was Irish. But they give us little credit for anything. Anyway, on top of all that, Ireland took in Jewish refugees during the war, when many other European countries were collaborating with the Nazis to exterminate them.

I can't honestly say what sets the Irish apart from other Europeans in that we were always so tolerant of our Jewish community. I could say that it's because the Jewish community in Ireland supported our struggle for independence from Britain, however...that would only explain their successful integration into Irish society in the 20th century, and they have been accepted and well integrated for the better part of a millennium. I guess the Irish are just nice people lol

I'm off to bed Anton, I'm tired. You have a good night there. Take it easy.

Didn't Russia invade South Ossetia and Abkhazia because Georgia had a Russian minority there? I can't blame the Lithuanians. The preservation of minority groups in one country, has always been an excuse for a neighbouring country to invade. The Scots Irish are a minority group in Ireland, which is how Britain justifies it's territorial claim on Northern Ireland. But depending on your perspective, the Irish are a minority group in Northern Ireland. As such, Ireland and Britain came dangerously close to going to war in the '70's (as ludicrous as that sounds) due to the fact that the Irish government feared that the Scots Irish were going to slaughter the Irish in Northern Ireland in a pogrom, and that the British government weren't doing enough to prevent that from happening. As such, the Irish government were toying with the idea of supplying the Irish with arms to defend themselves, which the British government would have interpreted as an act of war. Although we beat the British in our war of independence 1919-1921, that was a guerilla war, and there's no doubt that in a conventional war with Britain, that Ireland would have lost. But the Irish government had to be seen to be doing something.
