Lucky you! The only time I went to a convention, I met Majel Barrett Roddenberry and she was a horrible bitch to me.

Good evening --I accidentally called you "Duke."--
That was in my first message to you.
So, my question is: what should I call you?
Not "flok," I assume—we use the term "chocolate flakes" (*chocoladeflokken*) for the chocolate sprinkles we put on bread.
You might be thinking, "Oh dear, the Dutch are a strange bunch!"
Generally speaking, we are people of few words—and we’re honest!
At least, those of us from the northern part of the Netherlands are.
I’ll take you along to a bit of the old Netherlands.
More next time—that is, if it interests you.
Happy Weekend -->>Riny..

In doing so, the episode touches upon a question that extends far beyond the realm of science fiction:
Must one destroy an adversary in order to change the world, or is it possible to engage in dialogue—betting on the chance that their way of thinking might shift?
Nixon’s trip to China was not a declaration of friendship; it was a strategic move that transformed a stagnant relationship. That is precisely where the parallel lies: one need not consider another person "good" in order to negotiate with them—though one should certainly be clear about which of one’s own principles one is unwilling to compromise.

how do you know this phrase ????

Sometimes, it is precisely the person from whom one would least expect it who manages to bring about a radical change.

You mean that one should say hello and then also say goodbye when leaving.
Some people have actually pointed this out to me—that it bothers them when I don’t do that. Is that what you mean?

yes, good catch. you underestimate how many people are happy when you are present

That’s because I’m not really a fan of such conventions. Take the question "How are you?" for example—it’s asked so often here in Germany, yet the person asking usually has no real interest in how you’re actually doing. And when you respond by saying, "I’m good, how about you?"—it’s just so the other person can say they’re "good" too. It’s the kind of small talk I don’t particularly enjoy, which is also why I often skip saying a formal goodbye.
