Yeah, according to my boyfriend, parties have been a thing at the big anime cons since 2008 and slowly more common at small cons too. He has been hosting parties solo since 2017, now I am co-hosting with him since summer. We went to Midwest Furfest (the furry convention) and hosted a party for 5 nights in a row. We were one of only party rooms not shut down by cops lol
