He was also a "pioneer" (someone who swears never to allow booze to pass their lips); he forced my older brothers and then me, at age 11, to take the "confirmation pledge." I refused, but under the threat of violence, which he was fond of for his discipline of his children, I relented , and one week later, as he left the house to visit friends, I took out my mother's bottle of Cream Sherry, took a swig, and stuck two fingers up to him as he unknowingly climbed into the car to drive off. My promise lasted exactly one week. Fuck him and the Catholic Church and their forced pledges to Imaginary sky people.

My day was good, working through in Edinburgh again, I can't seem to get away from that place at the moment. I enjoy it though, it's a beautiful city, especially around the castle, the surrounding parks, and the old city? Who knows, maybe you can come visit one day and I'll give you the tour?
