Ya got that right. Don't get me wrong, I know that high school can be tough for women, as they can be catty/bitchy. But for men, it's truly a right of passage, even more so in a country like Ireland. Worst thing you can do here is walk away from a fight. It's better to take your licks than be perceived as a coward. Fighting Irish an'all. I was in so many fights in high school, none of which I started. I won about half, lost half...but I never slinked away. One of my front teeth is a crown, and I had my nose broken at some point, but I've no idea when, because I only found that out about two years ago, when I went to a nose and throat specialist. He'd told me that I'd had my nose broken at some point. All this time I never knew. I broke the odd nose myself, and knocked out one fella's two front teeth. He spent the next hour sifting through the grass of the rugby pitch trying to find them. I don't know why he did, because they weren't gonna be able to put them back in afterward. I'm glad that you can appreciate that we have it tough too.

hmmm.....not sure if I should mention it. 🤔 It's a very primal thing. We don't even discuss it amongst ourselves. Well, there's a chance you might already know. We're afraid of not being able to protect our women. The most emasculating thing that can happen to a man, is something happening to his woman. Being a protector is so deeply ingrained into how we see ourselves, that if we fail at that...then we've failed as men. It's right up there with something happening to us, if ya get me? Think prison.

Just like women have a maternal instinct, men have a patriarchal instinct. Not paternal now....(well we have that too) but also a patriarchal instinct. So we have one more than you women. No man will ever tell you that, because to admit to it is to suggest to our women that we might not be able to protect you. It's part of what we are, to keep you reassured. As I said, it's a very primal thing. We don't talk about it, but it's there.
