There’s a film I want to see in the cinema. An Irish one, starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. It’s called “The Banshees Of Inisherin”. It’s about two men (Farrell & Gleeson) who live in a small town on the fictional island of Inisherin off the west coast of Ireland in 1923. It being a small town, they are the only company they have for one another, until one day Gleeson’s character makes the sudden and unexpected decision to end his friendship with Farrell’s character. It’s set to the backdrop of the Irish civil war, which is raging on the mainland. It’s getting rave reviews, and was given a 15 minute standing ovation when it was shown at the Venice film festival. I’ve seen people leaving comment under trailer on Youtube saying that it’s a brilliant study of the human condition, and that they could relate to every character in it, that each character represented adifferent facet of their own personality.
