I thought it was rather plausible? The film was set 100 years ago, on an Irish island remember? Grudges in the Irish community are pretty remarakable and can last for generations as far as I can gather? I've never actually travelled to any Island around Britian/Ireland but I've worked in a lot of small towns/villages, and the vibe I get from the inhabitants is nothing like the vibe I get from city dwellers? They're nice and friendly, but you can tell they have a little distrust for outsiders? And yeah, the acting was great.
