The fact that deer aren't native to Australia and were introduced to that environment ~~~ does that have anything to do with it? Or is like here and that they are like rabbits ~~~ breed to the point of overwhelming an ecosystem. Believe it or not, but chipmunks here (in Massachusetts) are everywhere and can cause havoc ... can't kill them, because they are a protected species. Thank God for hawks and other birds of prey. Speaking of which ... they don't want people using the bait that kills them for that specific reason ... the hawks eating them and then dying. I know you hunt and you'll think this cool. When I was in Colorado, they used to let people apply for a permit to hunt RAMS. Once, I recall seeing one and the sound it made with its hooves on the loose mountain rock (shale, I think) ... like a click, clack. Amazing what balance the sheep had on such a steep incline.

After commenting, I had read an article about the AERIAL CULLING and it mentioned that a meat company from Adelaide was gleaning the meat from the recent cull. Over here, if you hit a deer, you can keep the meat. Some guy whacked one, one night in front of my house, and he was a little under the weather (had been drinking). But him hitting the deer at DUSK was just that. I told him to relax and play it COOL. I ended up talking to the policeman who responded (imagine that is how it happens here). They put the deer out of its misery, the guy who hit it left, and I covered the deer with a tarp (animal control picked it up the next day). People here tend to stray from wanting to deal with deer meat, because of the threat of Lyme Disease which feral deer seem to be a big carrier of (host to the Deer Ticks). Anyways, I can easily see your concern about them possibly impinging upon your property line ~~~ the sovereignty of it is paramount. Stay SAFE down there, my friend, and ENJOY your Tuesday.
