🇦🇺AUSTRALIAN PM ALBANESE CLAIMS MEMES ARE MISINFORMATION
"Social media platforms have a responsibility to make sure that misinformation isn't got out there. I noticed today, for example, on the way up here. They've removed various sites that were up containing fake images of myself superimposed on other people. That's the sort of thing that is going on, on social media. Social media has a responsibility to do the right thing here."
Apparently, the word 'satire' doesn't appear in the Australian dictionary.
THANKS, for taking the time to explain that. I had read once that the original split of rugby union and rugby league was due to player payments ... even way back then the owners tucked it to the players ... now, I am told they have retirement accounts and car allowances. That, of course, happens in every sport (especially, here in the States with some of our sports' mega-contracts) ... but these owners make significant money on the TV RIGHTS. Do they do BLACKOUTS down there? Certain teams here have their own exclusive TV stations and depending on who (and where) they play ... sometimes, there's a Local Blackout and one has to watch the game on an exclusive channel. It's all about the $$$ and it makes the purists long for years-gone-by. Hey, that Hairy Man they refer to ... are the Māori people referring to the origin of the first man? Anyways, Crevo, enjoy your Wednesday evening over there.
Of course, I don't know much about following a match but the goal kick, penalty kick, and drop goal as they call them ... I am always impressed with a player's accuracy ... considering that they are all running up and down the pitch pretty much nonstop. I gather one would need great cardio, in addition to size. Pardon the clip ~~~ it was a funny scene in one of the FAST AND FURIOUS movies. ENJOY your Wednesday morning.
THANKS, for that clip ~~~ I promise to watch it on a bigger screen than my laptop. Truth be told, I think the first time that I was introduced to rugby was through that Clint Eastwood movie INVICTUS and how it portrayed that particular South African WORLD CUP run. The Māori HAKA can come OFF as quite intimidating to the uninitiated ~~~ I can see how the ALL BLACKS can get into their opponents' heads and that's the key to any sports' match. Have a nice night over there.
