Honestly, I did feel that when visiting the U.S...the lack of history. I'm sure that Oz is amazing, but as you say...the new world countries lack a connection to the past. If you like old buildings then you should visit Newgrange in Ireland. It's well over 5,000 years old, making it older than Stonehenge or the Pyramids at Giza. Arthur C.
