I haven't heard of one lately, but before they started charging people for the cost of a rescue ... there would be the occasional touchhole who would be stupid enough to climb Mount Washington (New England's highest peak) in the WINTER. Compared to other mountains, its elevation is relatively low BUT it's beyond formidable in the wintry weather. When I lived in Colorado, a friend of mine was on the Mountain Rescue. He was in an unusually bad mood, one day ... I asked another friend why and I was told that he had to locate of all things, a head. Yeah, some of the braver and/or stupid climbers like to free climb without ropes and this is what happened. You wouldn't think that about the SNOW totals, but I think a lot of people take for granted all the natural wonders that OZ has to offer. ENJOY your weekend. :)

What's amazing about that particular Natl. Park is its relative proximity to the Tasman Sea. I take it that it probably draws a lot of mountain climbers. Not sure what the rules are there or if some of the other peaks are sacred to the Aboriginal Australians (like the ban on climbing Ayers Rock). But, yeah, it's COOL that you have access to all those future rides. Have a great weekend down there.
