Honestly, I did feel that when visiting the U.S...the lack of history. I'm sure that Oz is amazing, but as you say...the new world countries lack a connection to the past. Maybe someday I'll get to Australia. I've never been anywhere in the southern hemisphere. Europeans are truly spoiled in that regard, and quite self important when it comes to expecting Americans to know our political geography, even though most of us don't know theirs.

If you like old buildings then you should visit Newgrange in Ireland. It's well over 5,000 years old, making it older than Stonehenge or the Pyramids at Giza. Arthur C. Clarke once described it as the oldest building on earth. Here's a video I made awhile back, showcasing some of Ireland's more ancient structures. It includes Newgrange.

I've been fortunate to have traveled around Europe a bit. I was just recommending Italy to Ryan. Beautiful country. The bastards have everything when it comes to history. France is a beautiful country too. I've never been to Prague, my ex girlfriend and I had considered going there, she was American and wanted to see somewhere old, as she had never been outside the U.S before. But we ended up going to Amsterdam two years in a row. Had a fucking blast. I'd recommend there too. Prague is on my bucket list. So you've been to Europe then. Where have you been?
