The premise you put forth is a very good one. AI would not be bound by the temporal nature of what we know as life … so therefore time would be of no importance to them … unless, someone or something set a parameter where they were bound by the limits of time … thus, as you said, they could be used for deep-space exploration. I’m not sure if they’d be subject to a stasis (like humans would need) or whether they could be programmed not to get bored by the length of said trip.
