Very much so yes, the terminology (or at least the context) is slightly different. Over here we don't say major or minor, we would say Joint Honours if we are doing a major and a minor subject. In my case I am doing a Single Honours in Law, which is to say, I am doing a major in Law without a minor. Also, we say "course" when talking about a main degree and "module" when referring to a class. Mine is a four year degree course in Law, which covers everything. In the first two years, we do Torts, Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence and a Foundation in Law. Later we move on to Criminal Law, Corporate Law, Property Law etc. Eventually we can specialize. In Ireland, what you would call an "Attorney" is divided into two categories, a "Barrister" and a "Solicitor". The former argues cases in court, while the latter has contact with the client.
You have to study the Bar here too, to become a Barrister, but a law degree is a prerequisite for taking the Bar exam.
I had originally wanted to study PPES (Philosophy, Political Science, Economics & Sociology) but I was misinformed during my Pre-University Arts course last year, that a math module wasn't required for that subject, so I didn't do the math module. It had been misconstrued that I wanted to study Philosophy alone, which doesn't require a math module. I found out halfway through the course that a math module was required for PPES. Too late to start again. So I'm doing Law instead.

Various types of law are covered, my favourite is consitutional. I can show you my university if you like, its 400 years old, ranked 75th in the world. Famous alumni include Oscar Wilde, Bram Stoker, Paul Mescal (Gladiator 2) Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars) and for some reason....Courtney Love.
