rain is good, it fills the reservoirs and we wont have droughts in summer. But too much of anything isnt the best. We will have snow too, but that forecast of being "worst in 50 years" disappeared from the forecast. Higher elevations always have snow but Im in foothills. Still, Ive been here 15 years and been through 2 winters where I got trapped. I can live without that.

yeah thats what I read, Cali was supposed to get hammered for the el nino celebration but it's shifted now. There are a certain breed of costal birds dying in droves because the fish they eat are diving lower for colder water. (?) The Pacific is supposed to be really warm right now.

2 months ago the forecast said the worst winter in 50 years is arriving in the Sierras. I checked yesterday because it's still 80 degree days >_< Now it will be a rainy winter but not a lot of freeze. Its hard to prepare when they cant make up their minds.

Dirty? Well I don't think anyone, anywhere would eat them with DIRTY oil ffs. Do you mean greasy? The quality of fish & chips can vary greatly. In Ireland, all fish & chip shops everywhere, without exception are run by Italians. No chains, each individual outlet across the entire country is owned by a different Italian family. So, they'd all have different names, but all Italian names...and we're talking thousands of outlets. They all have Italian names like Macari's, Marsellas, Gino's, Forte's etc. That wouldn't be the case in Britain, it's only true in Ireland. Not sure what the reason for that would be, but all the Italian families who sell fish & chips here would have arrived in the 50's & 60's. Mostly from Naples and Sicily but some from Rome too. They'd be 2nd or 3rd generation Irish/Italian by now. It's strange because Italians don't eat fish & chips.
