Wow, sorry to hear that you feel that way about your culture Anton. In some ways I can relate. Up until the 80's, Ireland was ultra Catholic. Very conservative. Stiflingly conservative. Although the topography of the place made it a stunningly beautiful country, it was...nonetheless, a country smothered by the influence of the Catholic church. It was then, like Poland is now...fervently Catholic and a bit grim. It got a massive facelift during the 90's and 2000's when we went through a colossal economic boom. It's debatable whether or not the boom was real, but that would take to long to get into. Suffice to say, real or not...the upturn in our economy changed the place radically. There was more colour in the place, and we opened up a lot, and became very liberal in a very short space of time. To give you an idea of just how short a space of time, homosexuality wasn't decriminalized in Ireland until as recently as 1993, but the marriage equality act which allowed same sex couples the same marriage rights as heterosexual couples, was introduced in 2015, making us the first country in the world to do so by popular vote. So that's just a gap of 23 years.

As far as our culture is concerned, I have always been immensely proud of our very distinguished contribution to western literature. Dublin has a great literary heritage. We've produced a great many famous poets, playwrights and novelists. But our traditional music was always a bit too folksy for my liking.
