What bothers me most about these wildfires is the postscript where the insurance companies balk at paying out the claims. Of course, insurance companies are run by men that pay attention to actuarial tables and everything comes down to a calculated cost-benefit analysis. It's easier for them to deny a claim than it is to adhere to the more human concept of playing fair. But, as you stated, corporate greed takes over.

When my brother was diagnosed with terminal cancer ~~~ I swear to God that the insurance company had some private timetable and they knew they could delay this or that and on account of a probable end-date. Meanwhile, the CEOs become beholden to the shareholders and they do a quiet little dance that benefits themselves financially.

Although, I must say that when I was a paying customer of NATIONAL GRID ~~~ the employees of said company were always nice to me (customer service and field techs).
