Sorry about that, Sierra ~~~ yeah, it's funny in a weird way how important a sibling is to us. I am talking for myself and cannot explain how another feels, BUT I think I may have taken his presence or his influence on me for granted. Not that that is a direct offense but thinking along the lines of someone always being there. Like Mackey, he was a heavy equipment operator, but he also worked for a tree company that used to spray the trees in BOSTON with whatever pesticide one treats trees with (e.g., Commonwealth Ave which is tree lined and Harvard University). I know that they had to take a blood test every month and to test certain levels of what may have seeped into their system. My doctor thinks that is where it might have started, but hindsight being 20-20 ... it was, as many cancers are, caught too late. But, I suppose, the better part of him and your sister as well ~~~ that part of them still resonates within us. :)

So any plans for the upcoming LABOR DAY WEEKEND (even though, it's a couple of weeks away)? I'll be in BOSTON, if all goes well. In fact, I'm down there next week to catch a pair of L.A. Dodgers' games (yeah, they come to town ... thanks to interleague play).

What bothers me most about these wildfires is the postscript where the insurance companies balk at paying out the claims. Of course, insurance companies are run by men that pay attention to actuarial tables and everything comes down to a calculated cost-benefit analysis. It's easier for them to deny a claim than it is to adhere to the more human concept of playing fair. But, as you stated, corporate greed takes over.

When my brother was diagnosed with terminal cancer ~~~ I swear to God that the insurance company had some private timetable and they knew they could delay this or that and on account of a probable end-date. Meanwhile, the CEOs become beholden to the shareholders and they do a quiet little dance that benefits themselves financially.

Your family place sounds NICE. Speaking of wildfires ~~~ did you know that LEO had worked for the Forest Service and had experience dealing with said wildfires? Yeah, I can handle the WINTERS too ~~~ of course, we always bitch and moan about the cold coming down out of Canada (our proximity to Quebec), but there's nothing quite like the BLUE SKY after a Winter Snowstorm or how quiet the earth becomes when it starts snowing out.

Ya gotta love utility companies ~~~ they remind me of home insurance companies ~~~ they want their money $$$ on time, but God forbid you have a problem they need to address. Although, I must say that when I was a paying customer of NATIONAL GRID ~~~ the employees of said company were always nice to me (customer service and field techs). Yeah, don't say SNOW just yet ~~~ for you guys (where you are) get hammered by multi-foot storms. ;) Not making fun of him, but did you know that Allan has never experienced SNOW? True story, but I think his part of Mexico would be too temperate to ever see that.
