Hunting is very Murican. We Europeans don't hunt anymore. We're much too civilized, or is it tamed? I think it's an essential skill. But I would only ever hunt and kill an animal that I intended to eat afterward. I would never kill for sport.

I remember seeing a show on tv once, about a hick family in Florida, who hunted wild boars. Now, they always ate the boars they hunted and killed. However, they didn't shoot them at a distance with a rifle. Instead, they unleashed a pack of dogs to tear the boar to shreds, then they'd just casually saunter up to the boar and shoot it in the head with a revolver. It was like European fox hunting, just as stupid but less classy looking. Well anyway, I remember thinking...where's the sport in that???

There's a lot of photos on Facebook, of rich American dentists in Africa, posing in a macho stance over the carcass of a defenseless animal they had just shot at range with a rifle. Usually they'd be large slow moving animals such ad Hippos, Rhinos, Elephants and Giraffes. No sport in that either. That's not hunting, that's just a turkey shoot. If you don't track and stalk your prey, then it's not hunting.
