True, but you have to be careful not to disincentivize the entrepreneurs...or stifle their spirit. Socialists need capital to spend on public works/programs. That capital (most of it) is generated by the rich. My country had a corporate tax rate of 50% throughout the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's and it was an unmitigated fucking disaster. That can be easily seen with the benefit of hindsight, but at that time my country had only just recently achieved it's independence from Britain. The Brits had owned everything, and we suffered terribly under their rigid class system (famine) with the land owning elites at the top. So there was a real fear that foreign investors would buy up the nation and we'd lose our sovereignty in all but name. Everything had to be Irish owned. Hence the 50% corporation tax. But such a ludicrously high tax rate drove away investment, crippled industry and smothered the entrepreneurial spirit of my people. There was simply no incentive to innovate. I agree with you that things are too far the other way in America, but too much socialism is just as bad. It's a balancing act Shady. Very little nuance used in how people decide who'll they'll vote for in politics these days. Everyone likes the easy answers, be it the MAGA crowd or so called "progressives".
