Indeed! Morality has always fascinated me. I consider myself to be a very moral and principled person. But because I am not as spiritual as you, I regard my own morality as subjective, I regard all forms of morality as subjective. History has always been written by the winners, and so...whatever form of morality was held by the victors, was regarded as the truth, what was RIGHT...even if by someone else's standards, it wasn't right. WW2 in particular fascinates me, because that period represented an existential struggle for the kind of morality that I subscribe to, which the morality of western liberal democracies. Had the Nazis prevailed, they would have written the history that came after and before the war as well. We would all be living our lives according to THEIR understanding of what is morally right, and what is morally wrong. What I find so unsettling about their ideology, is that unlike Communism which is inherently unnatural and therefore unworkable, national socialism on the other hand, has it's place in nature. The natural world is structured around the survival of the fittest. So, were the Nazis wrong? I PERSONALLY believe that the Nazis were WRONG. But that is my PERSONAL belief. From a purely Darwinian perspective, every belief they adhered to had it's place in the natural world. So were they wrong? Were they evil? Had they prevailed, the answer might be NO, they were not wrong, they were not evil. But thankfully they did not prevail, so the world inherited the ideas of the 18th century enlightenment instead.

Did I tell you that there's a possibility that I might be descended from John Locke? My mother's maiden name is Locke.
