The next day I went to buy a few more things for myself using the prepaid Visa, and guess what? Declined. Huh? I went to another store. Declined again. WTF? Surely there was still plenty of money on there. So, I reluctantly called the customer service number on the back of the card. Can you guess where the call center is? If you guessed India, you are today's grand prize winner! Stay tuned for details on how to claim your prize!

Anyway, Habib proceeds to tell me in his gibberish that the card has been reported as compromised and was frozen. WTF? I repeatedly asked why, but of course he had no clue. All he said was the merchant I was shopping at the day before reported it as possible fraud, so the card is frozen. The only solution was to mail me a new card which will arrive in 7-10 business days. Needless to say I was furious!

Hibernation sensation indeed. Nothing all that new on my end. My girly has gone quiet on me, dunno where she is these days. Women! They're so damned complicated.

You ready for another story? Here we go! I received a regular, plain old universal Visa gift card for Christmas. You know, the kind you can supposedly use to purchase anything, just as if you were using your debit or credit card. So, after purchasing a few items, I thought I might as well pick up a gift card from a department store. I know, it's sort of like re-gifting, but it's "money" that was gifted to me, so why not share the wealth and not have to actually use my own bank account?

Anyway, when I went to pay for the department store gift card using the prepaid Visa card, the transaction was declined. The cashier tried it twice, but no luck. I was totally perplexed, and asked for the store manager. He came over and sort of chuckled while he explained to me "Oh yeah, you can't use those cards to buy gift cards for whatever reason. Sorry about that!". So, I bought the gift cards with my own money and moved on.

I remember wanting to get one of those converters several years ago, but never actually did. Then, shortly afterwards I remember seeing places popping up all over the place offering to transfer any VHS content to DVD for a fee. Then came the iPOD and the rest is digital history. I'm not quite sure how to categorize myself, but I have to say I'm part Canyon Man, part Digital Man, but mostly The Analog Kid, which is why I have so much trouble and frustration dealing with today's overkill. I don't want to download an app on my phone just to save $1.00 on my Subway Sandwich. So sick of it.

birds of prey 1973 film about an air traffic helicopter pilot , who gets flashbacks of his days before WW2 when he was in china.
, during the opening song/credits "i'll get by", clips of the Americans flying against the invading Japanese are shown,
then you come back to modern day USA and the movie takes over.

What association you got
to the flying tigers?

Another thing i liked about that video, no Putin!

You made it over! I couldn't comment on your channel until you added me as a friend. Funny clip! The grocery store in that one looked very similar to the one in my Sleeper video.

Backing up a bit to our Northern Exposure discussion, I have the entire collection on DVD. That's right, I still have a DVD player and...are you sitting down? A VHS player, that actually still works! I like to break out the NE vids every now and then. One or two (?) of the seasons actually came with a little vest covering them. A real vest, like the ones you would wear in the snow. Not sure if it was a limited edition, but I'm glad I have them They don't make shows like that anymore.

Hope you had a good NYE!

one of the quotes from him that gave me the most.

Bonhoeffer..

By loving forces...

By loving forces silently surrounded,
I feel quite soothed, secure, and filled with grace.
So I would like to live these days together,
and go with you into another year.

Still matters of the past are pressing our hearts
and evil days are weighing down on us.
Oh Lord, to our souls, so scared and sore,
give rescue, as it's that you made us for.

And when you pass to us the bitter chalice,
filled with suffering to the brim and more,
we take it, full of thanks and trembling not,
from this, your caring and beloved hand.

But if you want to please us, over and again,
with our shining sun and wondrous world,
let us muse on what is past, and then we shall,
with our lives, in all belong to you.

Warm and bright be our candles' flame today,
since into gloom you brought a gleaming light,
and lead again us, if you will, together!
We know it: you are beaming in the night.

When silence now will snow around us ev'rywhere,
so let us hear the all-embracing sound
of greater things than we can see and wider,
your world, and all your children's soaring hail.

By loving forces wonderfully sheltered,
we are awaiting fearlessly what comes.
God is with us at dusk and in the morning
and most assuredly on ev'ry day.
